Melanie relocated to Las Vegas 3 years ago from New York where she taught Music Together® for the four and a half years. Melanie is a trained actor, dancer and singer. She holds a B.A. in Englsih and Theatre from the City University of New York at Queens College and an M.F.A. in Theatre from The Goodman Theatre School in Chicago at Depaul University. After years of performing in New York City, receiving a grant to teach a movement and music program in the New York City Public School System, and teaching dance and choreographing for The Children's Dance Theatre at Studio E School of Dance she decided to settle down and have a family. Melanie relocated to Long Island with her husband and daughter and decided to take her daughter to a Music Together Class at Not Just Art in Cold Spring Harbor (at the time). That's when she fell in love with the program! She is now a registered Music Together teacher and has recently been awarded a Music Together Certification Level 1 status, having demonstrated outstanding acheivement in teaching musicianship, program philosophy and parent education. This certificate was granted by the Center for Music and Young Children in Princeton, New Jersey, Kenneth K. Guilmartin, Founder/Director and Lili M. Levinowitz, PhD./Director of Research.
She is now celebrating City Lights Music Together's Third Anniversary with her fabulous new staff of Unbelievable teachers!
Katie Jensen
Katie is originally from the beautiful beach community of San Clemente where she began her professional career at the local dinner theatre starring in "Girl Crazy" at 16 yrs old. She was accepted into the performing arts program at USC where she graduated with honors, Magna Cum Laude. Having the desire to travel, she used her talents to see the world singing, dancing and acting her way through Europe, the South Pacific, Japan and across the USA.She has starred in many musicals as well as performed with many vocal groups singing Opera, Pop, Country, RNB and even with a world renound Persian group, "The Black Cats". She was cast in"Jubilee" as a lead singer so she moved from LA to LV in 2002. She is now a voice -over artist and can be heard in many radio and television commercials. Today she is starring in her best role ever, as mother to a beautiful, hysterical 4 yr old boy, Brayden. They found Music Together when he was 3 yrs old and fell in love with the experience. She is now a registered Music Together teacher, loving every minute teaching and seeing the spark of music ,that has brought her such joy, ignite in such tiny children.
